Both Ampang Line LRT and Sri Petaling Line LRT converge at Chan Sow Lin LRT station the merged line leads to the north, terminating at Sentul Timur LRT station.
The combined LRT line runs on a common route between Sentul Timur LRT station and Chan Sow Lin LRT station, effectively making all the stations from Sentul Timur LRT station to Chan Sow Lin LRT station to act as interchanges for both lines.
From Chan Sow Lin LRT station, the lines diverge and run separately, with the Ampang line travelling to its terminus, Ampang LRT station.
Whereas the Sri Petaling line LRT runs to Putra Heights LRT station, where it meets the Kelana Jaya line LRT.
The combined network, comprises of Ampang Line LRT and Sri Petaling Line LRT, was the first railway in Malaysia to use standard-gauge track and semi-automated trains and it is a key component of the Greater Kuala Lumpur / Klang Valley Integrated Transit System in Malaysia.
There are no underground stations on both lines.
Most of the stations on the combined LRT Line utilise two side platforms, except for 4 stations that use one single island platform.
Chan Sow Lin station has 2 island platforms, allowing cross-platform transfers between trains from Ampang and Putra Heights, while the Putra Heights station has 2 side platforms and 1 island platform to facilitate transfers between the Sri Petaling Line and Kelana Jaya Line.
The Putra Heights LRT station is the interchange station for Ampang / Sri Petaling line LRT and Kelana Jaya line LRT.
Both the Ampang line LRT and Sri Petaling line LRT system network fleet consists of 50 6-car CSR Zhuzhou LRV trainsets, nicknamed as AMY, operated since January 2015.
