The KTM Komuter is the first electrified commuter train service in Malaysia. It was established in 1995 to provide passengers with extensive access to all locations in the Klang Valley.

The KTM Komuter network consists the Port Klang Line, the
Seremban Line and the new
Skypark Link introduced in 2018.
KTM Komuter – Port Klang Line
The KTM Komuter Port Klang Line covers 131km of rail tracks with 34 stations. This Port Klang Line runs between KA15 Tanjung Malim and KD19 Pelabuhan Klang (Port Klang).

At present, the Port Klang Line is the oldest existing (and still operational) railway line in the country, taking the title after the Taiping-Port Weld line was dismantled in 1987.
KTM Komuter – Seremban Line
The KTM Komuter Seremban Line covers 135km of rail tracks with 26 stations. The Seremban Line runs between KC05 Batu Caves and KB17 Tampin / Pulau Sebang.

The entire network covers more than 270km length of rail tracks and connects 57 stations, providing passengers a convenient local rail service throughout Kuala Lumpur and surrounding areas of the Klang Valley.

The KTM Komuter’s connectivity contributes an important role to the Klang Valley Integrated Transit system and it is a popular mode of transport to commute to Kuala Lumpur and to travel within the Klang Valley areas.
The trains used are air-conditioned electric multiple units. Passengers of the KTM Komuter can rest in the comfort coaches while being taken to their destinations at very reasonable fares.
Most KTM stations provide convenient ‘Park & Ride’ facilities at a nominal charge.
KTM Komuter’s tickets can be purchased at the ticketing counters or by using the self-service Ticket Vending Machine, which are available at all stations and halts.
The six-car Class 92s EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) trains are the most commonly used train for the KTM Komuter network.

Transfers between the two main lines can be made at any of the four stations on the central core:

The KL Sentral KTM station is the busiest station as it is located within the KL Sentral transportation hub.

Interchange with the LRT network can be done at the KB04 Bandar Tasik Selatan KTM station for the Sri Petaling line LRT, and at the KD09 KS02 Subang Jaya KTM station, the KA02 KA02 Kuala Lumpur KTM station, the KD01 Abdullah Hukum KTM station, or the KA01 KA01 KS01 KL Sentral KTM station for the
Kelana Jaya line LRT.
Passengers may also transfer to the Ampang line LRT in the city centre at KA03 Bank Negara KTM station by means of a 200-metre covered walk to the AG6 SP6 Bandaraya LRT station.
Also, from the KA04 KA04 Putra KTM station, the AG4 SP4 PWTC LRT station is about 1km walking distance away.
To change to KL Monorail, passengers can stop at KA01 KA01 KS01 KL Sentral KTM station then take a 400 meters short walk to the MR1 KL Sentral monorail station.
Passengers opt for the MRT Kajang Line can perform the interchange at KA02 KA02 Kuala Lumpur KTM station to the KG16 Pasar Seni MRT station, KA01 KA01 KS01 KL Sentral KTM station to the KG15 Muzium Negara MRT station, and KB06 Kajang KTM station to the KG35 Kajang MRT station.
Passengers opt for the MRT Putrajaya Line can perform the interchange at KA08 Sungai Buloh KTM station to the PY04 Sungai Buloh MRT station, KA07 Kepong Sentral KTM station to the PY08 Sri Damansara Timur MRT station, and KC03 Kampung Batu KTM station to the PY13 Kampung Batu MRT station.

The KTM Komuter also services shopping complexes and recreational centres.
The KB01 Mid Valley KTM station was opened in 2004 and it is located just next to the Mid Valley Megamall.
A new pedestrian bridge was recently opened to allow the commuters at the KD01 Abdullah Hukum KTM station to walk 250 meters and reach the Mid Valley city.
The Subang Parade and AEON BiG Subang Jaya are nearby KD09 KS02 Subang Jaya KTM station and The MINES shopping mall is nearby KB05 Serdang KTM station.

The KTM Komuter contributed RM146.2 million to group revenue in 2017, carrying a total of 37+ million passengers.

KTM Komuter has made shopping complexes and recreational centres more accessible. The KB01 Mid Valley KTM station, which opened in 2004 next to the Mid Valley Megamall, has proven particularly popular.
The pedestrian bridge that connects the KD01 Abdullah Hukum KTM station to the Mid Valley City is also a popular shortcut.

The Bandar Tasik Selatan ERL station is about 600m away from the Bandar Tasik Selatan KTM station and a pedestrian bridge is used to connect both stations.

The 2 main routes (vice-versa) are firstly the KL Sentral – Skypark Terminal route with 26km travel distance and secondly the Subang Jaya – Skypark Terminal route with 9km travel distance.

As the second airport rail link service, the Skypark Link route map transports passengers from KL Sentral to the Subang Airport.
