The station thus serves the localities of AU1, Semarak and Taman Setiawangsa, as well as enclosed areas.
The station was opened on June 1, 1999, as part of the line’s second segment encompassing 12 stations between Masjid Jamek LRT station and Gombak LRT station (not including Sri Rampai LRT station) and an underground line.
